SAN DIEGO — A high school proved the perfect backdrop for men and women, ages 18 to 39, to learn about a vocation in the Diocese of San Diego.

They turned out to Mater Dei Catholic High School on a stormy day, Saturday, Nov. 15, to hear from priests and religious women about what a vocation is, either in the priesthood or religious life or in marriage and family life.

The speakers included Father Marc Gandolfo, the diocese’s director of Priestly Vocations; Sister Katia Chávez, SJS, the vocations director of the Sister Servants of the Blessed Sacrament; and Deacon Oscar Paredes and his wife, Patricia.

The men and women chatted in breakout sessions, talked informally with priests and religious women and participated in a Holy Hour of Adoration, all exploring the day’s theme, “How do I know what is God’s plan for me?”

The day ended with a fun volleyball tournament, which pitted seminarians against young adult males and young women against consecrated women religious.
