Bishop celebrating ‘World Day of the Sick’ Mass
SAN DIEGO — Auxiliary Bishop Ramón Bejarano will celebrate a multilingual Mass for the World Day of the Sick.

Organized by the Order of Malta Western Association, U.S.A., and the diocesan Office for Life, Peace and Justice, the Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, at Good Shepherd Parish in Mira Mesa. It will include the anointing of the sick, as well as a blessing of caregivers and those who minister to the infirmed.

Globally, the World Day of the Sick is observed on Feb. 11, in conjunction with the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Young Adults invited to ‘Holy Hustle’ panel
SAN DIEGO — The San Diego chapter of Young Catholic Professionals (YCP) invites Catholics in their 20s and 30s to attend “The Holy Hustle: Faith, Work & God’s Perfect Match.”

The free event features an executive speaker panel offering hope and wisdom for living the Catholic vocation in work and love. It will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 11, at St. Brigid Parish in Pacific Beach.

YCP San Diego’s regular programming includes its Executive Speaker Series, where a Catholic speaker is invited to reflect on his or her faith and career; networking happy hours; half-day retreats; and more.

Ladies Guild holding annual fundraiser
SAN DIEGO — The Father Joe’s Villages Ladies Guild will hold its annual fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 16, at The Dana on Mission Bay.

The Ladies Guild is a service organization that provides funds and assistance for the more than 120 homeless children living at Father Joe’s Villages.

The fundraiser’s theme is “Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme: A Celebration of American Folk Music.” The event will feature an auction, followed by a three-course lunch with entertainment.

Bishop Bejarano’s installation set for Feb. 19
SAN DIEGO — Auxiliary Bishop Ramón Bejarano will be installed as the sixth bishop of the Diocese of Monterey on Feb. 19 at noon.

Archbishop José Gomez, of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, will preside, accompanied by  Cardinal Christophe Pierre, the apostolic nuncio.

Women’s retreat to offer healing from pain of abortion
SAN DIEGO — Rachel’s Hope is offering a healing retreat for women seeking to overcome the shame, regret and emotional pain caused by an abortion.

The professionally led retreat, which is open to Catholic and “Catholic-friendly” women, will be presented Feb. 20 to 22 at 4551 Moraga Ave. in San Diego. A closing Mass is included.

Group size is limited. Confidentiality of participants will be maintained.

‘Magnificat Meal’ scheduled for Feb. 28
CARLSBAD — All are welcome to attend a Magnificat Meal from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Hall in Carlsbad.

Inspired by the example of the Virgin Mary and her cousin, St. Elizabeth, this woman-to-woman ministry generates a lively faith in God and his action in our lives through the fellowship of a shared meal, music, personal testimony from a guest speaker, and prayer.

Retrouvaille offers hope for marriages
SAN DIEGO — Not willing to let go of your marriage? Many couples continue to struggle, but are not willing to give up on each other.

Retrouvaille is a program designed to help struggling marriages regain their health. It assists a husband and a wife to re-awaken the love, trust and commitment that originally brought them together.

Widowed, divorced invited to healing weekend

Mass to be offered for souls in Purgatory
OCEANSIDE — A Mass is being offered every month for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.

It is held on the third Thursday of each month at St. Margaret Parish in Oceanside. Many priests from across North County and from St. Michael’s Abbey in Silverado, California, have come to celebrate Mass for souls in Purgatory.

Eucharistic adoration and confessions are at 5 p.m., with Mass at 6 p.m., followed by the rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Retreats help recovery from homelessness, addiction
SAN DIEGO — The Ignatian Spirituality Project (ISP) invites those recovering from homelessness and addiction to experience God’s unconditional love.

The organization’s programs are designed for men and women in substance-abuse recovery who desire to deepen their spirituality and are open to sharing their story and listening to others.

Though founded in the Jesuit tradition, ISP does not proselytize, and people of all (or no) faith traditions are welcome.

Guided by the wisdom of Ignatian spirituality and interwoven with traditional 12-Step approaches, ISP retreat programs offer individuals recovering from homelessness and addiction a chance to take time away to reflect on and deepen their relationship with God, to identify the places inside that need healing, and to bond with others on the journey.
