Priest assignments announced

SAN DIEGO — The following has been announced by the Office of the Cardinal, effective July 1:

Father Jay Bananal will be pastor of San Rafael Parish.

Father Gerardo Gomez Zapien will be pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, National City.

Father Andrew Kunambi will be pastor of St. Didacus Parish.

Father Emilio Magaña will be pastor of St. John of the Cross Parish, Lemon Grove. (Father José Luis Muro will end his assignment at St. John of the Cross Parish on June 30 to return to Rome to complete his Licentiate in Dogmatic Theology studies.)

Father Fernando Maldonado will be pastor of St. Charles Parish, Imperial Beach.

Father Michael O’Connor will be pastor of St. Pius X Parish, Chula Vista.

Father William Zondler will be pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, Ocean Beach.

The Paulist Fathers have been entrusted with the service of St. Gregory the Great Parish and will be assigning two priests to minister there.
