SAN DIEGO — More than 5,000 faithful from around 40 parishes are expected to attend the San Diego Padres’ “Catholic Night” on Friday, July 10.

The team will play against the Toronto Blue Jays at Petco Park, starting at 5:40 p.m.

Those who buy the “theme game” tickets will receive a “Catholic Night” cap, which this year is white and purple with the outline of a dove on one side and a colorful design resembling stained-glass on the inside of the bill.

Attendance at the promotion has grown each year since it was first launched in 2015, with the 2026 edition expected to draw the largest Catholic turnout, according to Chris Connolly, the team’s chief marketing officer.

Parishes from North County to Imperial Beach will attend this year, he added.

Catholic community members have historically participated in the ceremonial “first pitch” and served as bell-ringer before the game starts.

Tickets may be purchased through padres.com/catholic.
