SAN DIEGO — The Vietnamese Catholic community’s annual Martyrs Mass will begin at 2 p.m., Nov. 22, at Good Shepherd Church.
A colorful procession will precede the Mass, to be celebrated by Bishop Michael Pham, the first Vietnamese-American bishop to lead a U.S. diocese.
In 1988, Pope St. John Paul II canonized 117 known Vietnamese martyrs, who were among as many as 300,000 martyred in the 18th and 19th centuries in Vietnam.
