Obituary: Father Ramon Marrufo

SAN DIEGO — Father Ramon Marrufo, a retired priest of the Diocese of San Diego, died from cancer on Nov. 15, 2023. He was 72.

Born in San Diego, Father Marrufo was ordained to the priesthood on March 19, 1976.

He served as pastor of St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Fallbrook from 2009 until his retirement from active ministry in February 2019. He was particularly devoted to the care of the marginalized and dispossessed.

Among his previous assignments, he also was pastor of Our Lady of Angels Parish (1986-1990), St. Mary Parish in Escondido (1990-1994), and St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Vista (1994-2008).

His funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 28 at St. Peter the Apostle Church.
