SAN DIEGO — The Diocese of San Diego issued the following statement on May 14:
“The faithful of the Diocese of San Diego are asked to exercise caution with a group of men fraudulently posing as Catholic priests and a bishop.
“They claim to be Guadalupan Missionaries of the Most Holy Sacrament MGSS (Misioneros Guadalupanos del Santísimo Sacramento) and are offering sacraments to Catholic families in exchange for money. The public is advised that any sacraments conferred by these men are invalid and illicit.
“This group of men — some of them ordained priests but now laicized — have formed their own sect and reside in Rosarito Beach, but are not in communion with the Roman Catholic Church. We have received reports that these fraudulent priests have been sighted in our diocese and the faithful are asked to contact their pastor if they become aware of any incidents.
“Some of the fraudulent priests are using these names: Bishop Lauro, Octavio Aguilar Oliveros, Gabriel Figueroa, and Raymundo Figueroa Pérez.
“If anyone is a victim of fraud relating to these fraudulent priests, please contact the authorities.”
