SAN DIEGO — Sister Shaun Marie (Shelagh) Larkin, a member of the Sisters of the Blessed Lady, died Feb. 27 at Nazareth House Retirement Home in San Diego. She was 85. She was born on Dec. 30, 1933, in Davenport, Iowa, to Mary Lucille and Leo Daniel Larkin. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Thomas and James. She is survived by her sister, Mary Lee Becwar, of Cambria, California, and 22 nieces and nephews. Sister Shaun Marie graduated from St. Catherine’s College in St. Paul, Minnesota, with a degree in nursing. In the 1970s, she received a master’s in Theology from the University of San Francisco. Sister Shaun Marie professed final vows with the Maryknoll Sisters. She was beloved by the parishioners of the parishes she served for more than 50 years, including St. Jude Shrine of the West, Holy Spirit, St. Didacus, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Christ the King, Immaculate Conception (Old Town), Sacred Heart (Ocean Beach) and St. Brigid’s (Pacific Beach). The Memorial Mass for Sister Shaun Marie will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 10, at Immaculate Conception Church, located at 2540 San Diego Ave., San Diego 92110. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
